Belagavi (formerly Belgaum) is one of the major cities of northern Karnataka. It is known for its pleasant climate, educational institutions, military establishments, sugar industry, and rich historical heritage. It lies near the borders of Maharashtra and Goa, making it culturally diverse with Kannada, Marathi, Hindi, and English widely spoken.
Called the "Second Capital of Karnataka" because the winter session of the Karnataka Legislature is held here at Suvarna Vidhana Soudha.

faculty and students to the 13th Karnataka State Chapter Conference, AOMSI.
